I’ve always thought that political comedians would make amazing politicians. Except for me. I hate you people too much to be any good at that crap and I would sooner spit roast your annoying little crotch goblins as kiss them and pretend that they are cute or interesting. Really. I’m a total jerk—wrong guy for politics!
But imagine, if you will, a congressional committee consisting of comedian, Jon Stewart, Tina Fey, Al Franken, who incidentally served pretty well in the Senate until his past life caught up with him, and Jimmy Kimmel ? The thing is, to be any good at political comedy, you have to get why it’s funny and that means you have to get it.
For all the fun and information we try to bring to political colonoscopy, the fact is some of these guys have been doing it for longer, and do it way better than we do. So we thought we’d take a moment and show you two of the best political arguments we’ve seen all year .
They just happen to be coming from comedians.
One of them is even from (clutch your pearls) an immigrant.
Give me all the Chuck Schumers and Jamie Raskins you want. You can keep them all for one good Jimmy Kimmel. Here, for example, is Jimmy making his case, with a whole bunch of real quotes from Donald Trump, but given with the comedic wisdom that gives us some undeniably serious perspective:
And if that’s not enough real talk to stick with you, try out this little clip from Jon Oliver debunking all the crap Republicans keep trying to feed us:
Have you been stuck not knowing how to get past the urge to tell your Republican acquaintances to go “expletive” themselves in the face of their cultist propaganda? Stick these two clips in your arsenal and let these two guys say it better than you or I ever could. The Greeks had Socrates and Plato. The hippies got Carlin and Dangerfield. But we got Kimmel and Oliver, Stewart, Noah, and more. All in all, we got the better deal! But then again, in these desperate times, I think we got who we needed! Thanks for tuning in!
