Alright, let me get this straight—because I’ve read it three times and I still can’t believe it. Today, Donald Trump sat in the Oval Office with the president of El Salvador like they were just two guys grabbing beers after committing a felony. And what were they bonding over? NOT trade, NOT crime, not even fútbol. No. They were both celebrating the fact that they are totally ignoring a Supreme Court order to return a man we illegally deported.
Yeah, you heard me.
This guy—Kilmar Abrego García—he’s a father. Lives in Maryland. Had legal protection to stay in the U.S. since 2019 because going back to El Salvador meant basically painting a target on his back for gangs. He had “withholding of removal” status. It’s like the government saying, “Yeah, you’re right, going back might get you killed. You can stay.” It’s not even a gray area. It’s law. Done deal. But then in March, ICE is like, “Oopsie-daisy!” and ships him off anyway. Just—poof! Gone. Like they hit “send” on a human being.
And what does El Salvador do when he lands? Throws him in one of their worst prisons—the Terrorism Confinement Center. Yeah, that’s what it’s called. Sounds like a vacation spot, right? Except instead of beach towels, they’ve got solitary confinement and beatings.
Now here comes the kicker: The United States Supreme Court—unanimously, by the way, which in this country is rarer than a unicorn on roller skates—says, “You gotta bring this guy back.” And Trump? He just shrugs. He’s like, “Well, we did our part! We told El Salvador he’s over there! What do you want from me?”
WHAT DO WE WANT?! WE WANT YOU TO FOLLOW THE LAW, YOU ABSOLUTE MUFFIN.
And Bukele—this guy, the Salvadoran president—gets up in front of cameras and says, “How can I return him to the United States? You want me to smuggle him in?” Like it’s a joke. No, dude. It’s not a joke. It’s a Supreme Court ruling. And when a court tells the executive branch to “facilitate” someone’s return, it doesn’t mean send them a Google Maps link and walk away. It means make it happen. Negotiate. Push. Use diplomacy. Or I don’t know—DO YOUR JOB.
But no. Trump’s people are now playing legal Twister, saying “Well, we don’t have to get him back, we just can’t stop anyone else from doing it.” This is the kind of BS you’d expect from a teenager trying to weasel out of curfew. “I didn’t go out, I just… wasn’t inside.”
Meanwhile, Abrego García is still locked up. Still hasn’t seen his wife or kids. Still sitting in a prison cell because a bunch of overconfident bureaucrats couldn’t admit they screwed up. And because now, refusing to admit you were wrong is an entire administration’s brand.
And this isn’t just about one guy, alright? I know some of you are gonna be like, “Well, maybe it was just a mistake.” No. This is about whether or not the executive branch gets to tell the judicial branch, “Thanks for your little ruling there, Judge Judy, but we’re gonna do things our own way.”
If that’s where we’re at? That’s not a democracy. That’s a mob boss ignoring a court date.
Yesterday, April 14, 2025, will go down as the day the President of the United States stood next to a foreign leader, smirked at a Supreme Court ruling, and basically told the Constitution to kiss his ass.
And if we’re not furious about that? If we just let this one go? Then we deserve exactly what’s coming.
